Well, what do you know?

I'm taking a short break from my regular posts about life in New Zealand. Here is something I just learned....

I'm happy to say that it has nothing at all to do with Covid-19.

This is a listing by country of how many pageviews my blog has received. I looked not long ago at the Statistics portion of my blog and accessed the audience information. This is what I found. Actually, the total number of pageviews I've had is today close to 40,000.

I'm very pleased. I don't know why Russians like my blog so much more than Canadians do, but, oh well. I started this blog to allow family and friends to keep track of us over here in New Zealand, so the pageviews by other people all over the world are a bonus. I suppose that most of those folks just happen upon my posts while they're researching some interest. Still, it's fun to know that my offerings have been seen by so many.

Thanks to all of you, whoever you are, and wherever you live, for your interest.

This is so cool! Your writing is amazing whether or not they happen upon the blog or intentionally go to it. Congratulations on those results! It was so great that it was not about COVID19. McKenzie

I bet your posts about Kvass had something to do with the Russian views!

So I wonder about the "Unknown Region" What if they were voyagers from the future or from outer space? Cool to fantasize what they were looking for...

I agree about the Kvass pageviews.

I wonder too about what defines the unknown region. Maybe I'll find out some time. I'll let you know if I do.

My deer blind, a place outside of time and space.

This is a picture of my deer hunting blind. I built in in 1975 and used it until about 2010. I'm publishing this picture and text on November 15 of 2022, the opening day of Michigan's rifle deer hunting season, to remember all the years I spent sitting there and occasionally harvesting a deer. I think that the meat I provided for my family was only a small portion of the benefit I received from hunting in this manner. Of greater value to me was the time I spent alone, watching the forest and its many components interact. I had time to unwind from the stresses of my work, to appreciate our world, and even sometimes to pray. That blind was a refuge to me. It was cozy, and comfortable and I spent much more time filming the activities of not only deer, but bears, racoons, turkeys, squirrels, hawks, and once, even a snowy owl, than I did harvesting deer. May I suggest to all of you that you try to find some time and a place, where you can be alone, and where you can ponder and appreciate your life and your place in the world. It does a body good. -djf
