Do you like your sunny-side ups with or without birds? Both are on our menu today.

When I took my photos of the Sun moving along the horizon toward the equinox, and showed them to you in a recent post, I also snapped a lot of 'shortly before,' shots. This post consists of the best of those pictures. (And a couple of during and one shortly after shot.)

Not much talk with this post, maybe a few comments. Just enjoy some beautiful moments in time.

I can't quite decide if we're looking at the sky or the sea in this one. Does anyone see a boat out there?

I wish you all could have seen this one in person. This is just a section of the spectacle that filled the eastern sky. It lasted only a couple of minutes, then it was just a grey sky.

I think this one could be a postcard.

A very ordinary looking morning, but look closer....

I like to play with some of the pictures, just to see how they look. Case in point.....

These pictures are stunning. I think I like the ones with birds better but it is really close. They are amazing in their own way. People should really enjoy that morning sky more to feel gratitude. Since I start working at 5:00 am (PST) in my office, I never see the sunrise. I will try to notice more on Saturdays or Sundays as we are up at the same time (4:10 am PST). McKenzie

I'll bet that you would have some amazing ones out there in the desert. Good luck in spotting some.

My deer blind, a place outside of time and space.

This is a picture of my deer hunting blind. I built in in 1975 and used it until about 2010. I'm publishing this picture and text on November 15 of 2022, the opening day of Michigan's rifle deer hunting season, to remember all the years I spent sitting there and occasionally harvesting a deer. I think that the meat I provided for my family was only a small portion of the benefit I received from hunting in this manner. Of greater value to me was the time I spent alone, watching the forest and its many components interact. I had time to unwind from the stresses of my work, to appreciate our world, and even sometimes to pray. That blind was a refuge to me. It was cozy, and comfortable and I spent much more time filming the activities of not only deer, but bears, racoons, turkeys, squirrels, hawks, and once, even a snowy owl, than I did harvesting deer. May I suggest to all of you that you try to find some time and a place, where you can be alone, and where you can ponder and appreciate your life and your place in the world. It does a body good. -djf
