Recently, some friends invited us to go to a Saturday morning market with them. We jumped at the chance and the following pictures are the result of our visit. We enjoyed ourselves.
We also grow some of these stubby little bananas at our village. I think they are a little denser than regular bananas, a little sweeter sometimes, and have a hint of what I call citrus, sometimes. Like regular bananas, their flavor changes a little as they ripen.
That's it for today, folks. I'll have some more market pictures next time. -djf
I loved seeing the gorgeous cover photo! It is just beautiful. The foods at the market look delicious. There is nothing like an outdoor market. It's nice that you can find them even in winter there. Thanks for sharing. McKenzie
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment, McKenzie.
ReplyDeleteThere is definitely a glowing yellow theme running through this post! I can just close my eyes and inhale the lovely scent of that gorgeous rose and then the lemons and bananas...
ReplyDeleteAnd then comes the golden baked goods with houmous and friends OH MY!
I had to look up where Oratia is since it sounded familiar... and no wonder! it's on the way to Arataki that us sisters visited back in February!
Don't know why I didn't remember Oratia as the twin stream to the Opanuku so this lovely market must be closer to your village than the greater distance I was imagining you had traveled..
DeleteIt's a great little market.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it really has nothing to do with Arataki at all. Actually, the market is within walking distance of Allie's house and is named, as you now realize, for the stream.
