Arram has started another year of soccer and once again, he is a Ranui Minion. He knows most of the kids on his team already, as well as his coach, so he's very comfortable there. And just a word about his coach. I watched him all last year and it's clear that he cares very deeply for the kids on his team. I don't think the Minions could have a kinder or more caring man leading them. They're lucky kids.
They just played their first two games of the year, both against Oratia (Or-a-tea-a) and I thought I'd show you a couple of shots from those games.
I'm not a sports photographer. Things happen too quickly for me to get really good pictures, but what I have will have to be good enough.
Take a look.
Pre-game instructions from the coach
Setting up his shot at the goal.....
It's on it's way...will it be good? The look on Arram's teammate's face says he thinks it looks promising. YES! Gooooooooooooooaaaaaallllll.
Another score. Here, he is turning away after putting the ball in the corner of the goal.
I had just moved to this end of the field when this happened. I'm behind the goal. It's on my right.
The ball was kicked by a team mate of his and was falling toward him. You can see him looking at the goal, planning his kick. He timed it perfectly and caught the ball on it's way down...

Look at the concentration...will it get in? It did and a second or so from this point, he was in the air and elated. So was his team. This was the last goal of the two game series and the Minions won both of them. A good start to the season.
He has an after-game orange section in one hand and is accepting a player of the day trophy from his coach with the other.
He made four goals in the two games but I only recorded three of them. I was moving to a new postion when the missing one was scored. Oh well.
There they are, the Ranui Minions celebrating two wins.
(the coach gave out a second player of the day award)
Great action pictures. The pictures truly capture Arram's intense concentration in his sport. The Team looks great and a happy group also. Congratulations Arram for a fine game! Your family is mighty proud of you. Love, McKenzie
