Western Park, Ponsonby, Auckland

(Consider this shot as another header.)

This park is in Ponsonby.

It's a gorgeous place

At the entrance to the park, this artist displays a large work.

There is one problem, as I see it, with his work. It would be best viewed from the middle of Ponsonby Road, on a step ladder. To get this shot, I held my camera as high over my head as I could. Traffic was just too heavy to allow me to get a shot from the center line.

It's also nice though to view the detail.

Closer yet

This is the park, as I mentioned in a previous post, that displays replicas of some sections of  buildings long since demolished.

Yes, yes. I know I showed you this picture once before, but humor me, I like it.   -djf

  1. The art you found on and in the ground are really impressive. I love the pebble mosaic and the woven wood road. It seems that Kiwis have a knack for producing art everywhere! The sunken building ruins are kind of eerie which is the reaction I'm sure the artist intended. Even so this would be an interesting place to visit in person next year.

    Thanks for sharing!

  2. I find that I'm constantly surprised by what I come across in my wanderings.

There will certainly be no lack of things, and places to show you when you visit. It's getting closer now so you'll have to start talking specifics with Jeanne. Google Maps will be invaluable to you as you plan. Fun stuff!

  3. I love how your blogs will give people so many ideas on what to visit in New Zealand if they are lucky enough to visit. There is no place like New Zealand (except for home). McKenzie

  4. Yes, you're so right about NZ. But I could also advise Kiwis about Michigan and Minnesota, couldn't I?
