A walk through Grey Lynn

Auckland has many historic neighborhoods. Recently, I walked around Grey Lynn and photographed some of the houses I saw.

Take a look.

This one has stained glass on it's front porch.

This last one shows one section of a much larger mosaic in downtown Grey Lynn.  Good attitude.

I hope you enjoyed walking with me today. We'll have to this again sometime.  Hope the hills didn't bother you.                                                  -djf

  1. It seems like Victorian trim is really popular in this neighborhood and makes these houses quite charming. I also noticed so many of them perched many steps above street level though I imagine the residents probably never give a second thought to the climb. Your first shot with the Sky Tower really gives a nice perspective to the hilly terrain - it reminds me of my walk with you and Jeanne down Queen Street from K Road to Customs back in 2019.

So getting back to the houses.. if I were to pick my favorite - it would be the one in the 3rd picture with the solid staggered fence. I would have said "white house" but then I noticed they're ALL white with an occasional red or grey roof.

    Thanks for taking us along!

  2. Knowing that all of you will at some point be 'joining me' on my jaunts makes them all the more worthwhile.
